  1. People DO have a say in how their taxes are spent, just not directly. We elect our representatives and they choose what the taxes are spent on. We aren't a democracy, we're a representational republic. If we don't like how our taxes are spent, we vote out the representatives that are implementing said programs. If we want our taxes spent in a way they're not, we either petition our elected officials or we vote in new representatives. Is it a perfect system? No, but anyone who is arguing that we should have a direct say in how our taxes are spent is not living in reality, they're living in a fantasy construct in which this is a direct democracy.
