  1. The 2nd Amendment wasn't about tyranny or overthrowing the government. Quite the opposite, it was about PROTECTING the government. The militia was there to prevent invasion by foreign powers in the absence of a standing army, something our founding fathers were generally opposed to. A standing army has to justify its existence. As the old saying goes, to the man with the hammer, ever situation looks like a nail. That's where we are now, big military, always looking for an excuse to fight. Plus, in our modern age with the most powerful standing army in Earth's entire history, the tiny number of people who would rebel against the government could be taken out with a small number of smart bombs. They aren't resisting a damned thing for long. It's basically "I like guns, fuck off" as a way of life.
