  1. It's a poison pill. They might be accepting that trans people exist, but then they throw in a ton of misinformation. They mention suicide rates but misattribute it to the stress of transitioning not the stress of having a good chunk of society spewing hate at you all day, every day. Not just in public, which is bad enough, but on the internet and on TV. The right wing has anti-trans propaganda all the time on it, just look at this segment for a current example. Not only is this piece not going to help trans people, it's going to ensure more are going to be suicidal or, God forbid, actually commit suicide.

  2. That woman mentions the high suicide rate and suicide ideation amongst the trans community. She leaves out the reason WHY these rates are so high. It's not the stress of transitioning, if anything that's the relief that reduces the likelihood. It's the nonstop hate and the bigotry. These people can't help what they are any more than a cisgender person can help be cisgender. You'd be amazed how much a little kindness and understanding go towards reducing suicidal thoughts and actions. If you, whoever you are, had to, on a daily basis, deal with people constantly berating you for your eye color and people on political news tell you that your eye color was a sign of moral weakness and that you're evil for having it for ten or twenty years, you'd gouge your eyes out!
