  1. Politicians are absolutely terrible at apologies. Admission of wrongdoing, explaining the fault, taking responsibility for the fault, vowing to make a redress for the fault, vowing not to commit the same kind of fault going forward, and sincerely seeking to earn forgiveness. Those are the parts of a genuine apology. Making excuses, saying "I'm sorry if" or "I'm sorry that," making out other people are to blame, these are hallmarks of the celebrity or politician apology and should always be called out.
