I was given advice, never talk to strangers about politics or religion. As a businessperson, you're better off having your clients believe you think as they think than to potentially upset them and lose their business. In the future, while on business, talk about your favorite movie or something, not something that's both toxic and explosive in today's world. You never know how some entitled MAGA loser might act. I'd rather not figure out the hard way they have a second amendment fetish and think shooting you is a good way to settle their political difference.

To be clear, firing someone for political reasons is illegal. He was fired for unprofessional behavior, such as favoritism.

People have blind spots. My uncle is a great dentist. He's professional, he's got a painless touch, he knows what he's doing. If you want advice on keeping your teeth in good condition, he's the guy to go to. If you want advice on LITERALLY anything else, and I don't mean figuratively either, go somewhere else. Every piece of non-dental advice I've ever gotten from him ended in disaster. A MAGA mechanic might not understand anything about politics or national\state policy and be a terrific mechanic. Just don't talk politics. When they bring it up, just politely change the subject or say you're not interesting in politics\voting (a lie if need be).

It's nice you have the ability to drive over fifty miles to service a piece of yard equipment you might need servicing once every year or so. I live in Oklahoma, if my lawn mower needed servicing and I didn't want a MAGA douche to service it, I'd have to drive several states away. That or spend $800 to buy a new one.

@Apollo_Blaze We're not really there with electric mowers. You either have a lithium battery that rapidly loses power the instant you unplug it or you need to have a long ass cord that you risk tangling or mowing over.

On one hand, I can't say I blame people for not wanting to spend money in businesses with a strong MAGA attitude. That being said, it's not like spending money is an endorsement of their political ideology. Back when the Chick-Fil-A anti-gay controversy was in full swing (before the MAGA crowd started boycotting over so-called wokeness), I was saying, not to endorse them, but to explain to people why their boycott isn't really working, that if you boycotted every restaurant or grocery that didn't uphold your exact political ideology, you'd starve. If boycotting a business is hurting you more than the business, might as well spend your money at that business.
