  1. Debate is useless for determining the truth. A skilled debater can successfully defend an absolute falsehood while a poor debater can fail to defend the total truth. Besides that, people are rarely convinced by a skilled debater if they don't agree with their premise from the get-go. The truly open-minded person is a myth at this point.
