  1. Anyone remember the 2016 election? Was it good for the Republican party to have so many candidates, all with egos the size of California and Texas combined? Do you really think allowing THIS many candidates for the Democratic party will play out any differently? All this is doing is giving Donald Trump ammunition to win his next election, and we all agree that's a bad thing to happen. This debate needs to be done in house, in private, and allow the winner go public as a candidate. We're going to get too many "my guy or bust" voters get their feelings hurt and then they'll flip the table over and storm out. Since they won't hash this out in private, any reasonable attempt to cut the field down to a reasonable number is a good thing.
