  2. Comedian Carlos Mencia one pointed out that, depending on where he is in the United States is going to be called a different nationality. In Texas, he's going to be called Mexican. In Florida, he'll be called Cuban. In New York, he'll be called Puerto Rican. A lot of Latinos and Latinas have experienced that directly. Seeing someone specifically call out Puerto Rico as an island of garbage isn't only going to rankle Puerto Ricans. Every other American Latino and Latina is going to feel that too, that the racists can't tell the difference and don't care, so they'll know they're being called garbage too.
