If you wanted to prove Vitamin D was supporting either defense against, or recovery from, Covid-19, you would have to eliminate all possible variables in order to prove it. This is a sort of confirmation bias, where one sees a correlation between Covid-19 deaths and Vitamin D deficiency then concluding that's the only link. Not that increasing Vitamin D intake or production is a bad thing, it's far less harmful than taking Chloroquine because the president was hocking it. There is a line though as most vitamins become toxic in large quantities, Vitamin D leading to hypercalcemia which can damage your kidneys.
