The problem with an extended warranty is, anecdotally, they tend to expire RIGHT BEFORE anything happens that it would cover. It was literally two days after my extended warranty expired on my previous TV when it died on me. Repair costs were more expensive than a bigger and higher definition TV plus the wall mount.
