  1. People have a right to lie, they have a right to spread misinformation or disinformation. What they don't have a right to do is defame or erroneously attack people. In an ideal world, telling a lie would be shameful enough to be its own consequence and prevent people from doing so. In a decent world, when someone becomes known as a liar, people stop listening and outlets dependent on such lies would wither and fall away. We don't live in an ideal world; we don't even live in a decent world. Our only recourse is to call it out and, if need be, sue such outlets into oblivion.
