  1. McDonalds's primary business model is that of real estate. They make little to no money selling burgers and fries. They own the land and the buildings the franchisees operate and get usually over half any franchise's profits in rental and franchise fees. The second part of their business model is selling the supplies to franchisees to make said burgers and fries. Unless all the franchises shut down, the corporation makes money regardless of the profitability of the restaurants.
