While I tend to agree, this IS a case of both sides screwing things up. The partisan hackery that's been going on for a great long time now isn't ONLY being perpetrated by one side. Add on top of that the corporatizing of our political system, a complete unwillingness to compromise on anything from both sides, and the echo-chambers we've all fallen into, this is only going to get worse. It is a bigger problem today on the right, but there's really nothing stopping this from happening on the extreme left either. It won't be long before some extremist lefty pulls some ridiculous crap, stuff our side generally will tolerate, while the right fights back. The shoe will be on the other foot and the left won't see it at all.
