One of the reasons the Republican strategy of saying someone isn't racist despite evidence to the contrary is the Left's overuse of the term racist. We've heard it to describe things and people that can't reasonably be called racist, and it's giving aid and comfort to actual racists. When the boy cried wolf so often, people eventually stopped listening, and that's where we are now. He'd have to actually call a black person the N word directly to his or her face on live TV to have that term even partially stick at this point.
