While I am generally opposed to the death penalty on logical grounds that it's irreversible and don't want to be even tangentially responsible for the death of an innocent person, I'm not actually morally opposed to the death penalty. Charles Mansion, for example, was a cruel and completely incurably insane person who was guilty of causing the deaths of many. Were he a dog, we'd have euthanized him. Why would we show more kindness to a rabid dog than a human being? Prison shouldn't be about cruelty to the guilty, it should be about segregating dangerous people until we can repair what is broken within them and make them functioning members of society. When your reasons to keep a murderer alive is to make them suffer, then congratulations, you're not a good or moral person.
