Enlightened self interest needs to be kicking in here and it's not. What I mean by that is that doing something selfless or something for others is often good because it helps you out in the long run. Our corporations, especially their shareholders and governing bodies, need to decide to sacrifice their short term profits to help out the majority of people in this nation so that, when this crisis is finally over, the economy doesn't completely crash. They are incapable of doing so because they're greedy and hyper selfish, and it will literally get people killed.
