  1. The problem with the human animal is that we typically plan for the short term but not really much for the long term. Whenever we encounter a new problem or a reoccurring problem, we attempt to fix it as immediately as possible, which largely ignores the long term implications of said solution. David has the right idea here. Long term planning will do more to stabilize our system than any immediate attempt to gain voters in any single cycle.
