Too many people think every situation is somehow completely unique. How many times have people been fed up with the current party, the two-party system, and just decide to vote third party because, "this time, it'll be different"? Every time a third-party candidate gets on the ballot, it just guarantees one of the two major party candidates wins. This time will be no different. Since it's who gets the most electoral college votes, not who wins at least 51% of the vote, all third-party candidates can ever do is take enough votes away from a candidate to spoil what would have otherwise been victory. Jill Stein is going to go down with the likes of Ron Paul, Pat Buchanan, and Ross Perot, loud idiots who care more about attention than actually fixing anything.

@insightfulhistorian1861 I don't exactly like Republicans or Democrats either, but I live in a little place called reality. Democrats aren't perfect, but at least they've got a track record of being capable of being pushed the right direction from time to time.

Oliver here is both completely confused and totally misinformed. I agree our current situation with Israel is difficult. American policy for the Middle East is going to keep us from abandoning Israel as our goal is to get a power in the region to step up so our nation can stay out of Middle Eastern affairs. People aren't aware of everything going on behind the scenes right now. We're trying to get Israel to back down. Pulling all support from Israel, one would be against treaties that are in place, but even if they weren't; two, would be totally unproductive. It's the situation to blame here, not the president trying to fix it through negotiation. As for Haiti, does Oliver here expect us to invade and depose the current leader? Does he expect the people of Haiti to be appreciative of yet another colonial power interfering in their affairs?

@scoop2448 It's called triage. If you've got a patient dying of a gunshot wound and another that is bleeding from losing a finger, you take care of the gunshot wound first. If you have two candidates, one is ready to create the Fourth Reich here in the U.S. and another that's a corporatist that can still be pushed to do the right thing on occasion, you pick the corporatist. You might be choosing one evil over another, but you're also rejecting a greater evil. Voting is the worst way to cause deep, systemic change. You need to spread from the ground up, change the culture and politics follows, not the other way around.
