  1. A lot of people don't understand this because they have either chosen not to or have been grossly misinformed on the subject. That tends to go for any subject the right "doesn't understand." Climate change, evolution, macroeconomics, separation of church and state, transgender issues, and, yes, health care. If you want to understand why the right wing seems not to understand an issue that's this easy to explain it is either willful ignorance or misinformation.
