  2. Wouldn't a first cousin share a quarter of your DNA? First cousins share one set of grandparents, meaning your parents are siblings with their parents. You have half your mother's and half your father's DNA. You have a quarter of your maternal grandmother, your maternal grandfather, your paternal grandmother, and your paternal grandfather's DNA. I'm just confused why you're saying first cousins share an eighth of your DNA.
