  1. The issue with 24-hour cable news is that it has trained us to expect up-to-the-minute news when the vast majority of such information is false at worst and incomplete at best. The thing is, once misinformation is out there, since people rarely follow up and the 24-hour news doesn't like to retread old ground, the misinformation is what people know and no amount of correction will sway most people. Breaking news needs to be short and exclusively what is 100% verifiable so that the final details are gathered and confirmed, only the facts are out there. Information is like ore, there's a ton of junk for a few pounds of unadulterated refined product.
