There was a reason the founding fathers put in place a requirement to be land owning citizens in order to vote. They didn't want fools and idiots to vote, nor did they want people with an interest in totally upending the system to vote. They wanted people with a vested interest in keeping their land and property, people who would be more likely to educate themselves on the issues, to vote. I can't say it was the right thing per se, but the definitely had a point. Allowing fools and uneducated people to have the same strength as an educated person is a problem, especially because the fools outweigh the intelligent by a large majority.
