  1. I often mention functional illiteracy; the ability to read yet difficulty understanding what the words you are reading mean. Everyone has some level of functional illiteracy, but it seems to be getting worse. I don't know if it's because of lower education standards, the downfall of print media, the rise of social media, or some other individual or cluster of events working together, but people are genuinely losing coherence and comprehension.
