There are levels of mental illness. There are the types that are inherited, like schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. There are major illnesses that are achieved (meaning as a result of external factors) like depression or PTSD. There're very minor illnesses that run the gamut. A person who has decided to take a gun to a populated area and kill people are mentally ill, usually suffering some sort of crisis brought about by external pressures exacerbated by abuse. A strong and functioning mental health expansion\access would curb a lot of this unnecessary violence, but the right doesn't want that. They want people afraid so they buy more guns and what makes people afraid more than constant mass shootings?
