  1. Free Market Conservatives like to tout the idea that America needs to be competitive with the rest of the world. And yet, when it comes to things like education or health care, they want US to pay exorbitant fees, fees that hold us down, make us less productive. It's like asking someone to run a race with lead weights on the feet. The rest of the industrialized world makes these things either very cheap or pays for it through taxes (it's never actually free). Not everyone needs a college education, we do need people to do manual labor to help keep this country running. The people who have the brains and talents to qualify for higher education shouldn't be saddled with crippling debt.
