Nuance is difficult to impart in 280 characters. Add on top of that the average level of functional illiteracy in the U.S. and any tweet is a recipe for stirring up a hate mob. I get what David was trying to do and trying to say. I took it the way he intended. But I would have strongly advised against posting that particular tweet. If I were to tweet at all about this (I abstain from Twitter) I would preface how tragic any child would be killed and then demand more than thoughts and prayers. Trying to be pithy on twitter is like trying to be funny at a funeral.
