Thing is, most multimillionaires and billionaires are cash poor, and I mean in relation to their overall wealth, the cash they have in hand is far more than an average person. Liquid assets, generally speaking, are depreciating assets. So, they tend to invest their money into things like art or property which maintain or increase in value over time but have the unfortunate difficulty of taking time to sell. If they need to suddenly put forth half a billion dollars, every one of them would need to liquidate assets to do so. This isn't a unique phenomenon for Trump.
