  1. The money they're supposedly returning to the taxpayer isn't money enough to buy a house. If you take ten billion dollars and then return it to the people, assuming it's every person in the United States and not just taxpayers, that would be thirty dollars and change. If you can buy a house or a car for thirty dollars, it's probably not going to be very good. The house would be unlivable, and the car would be better used as scrap. Giving everyone thirty dollars is, at best, a one-day stimulus that wouldn't move the economic needle any perceivable amount.
