  1. It started with soda bottles. They were glass, you got a deposit back for turning one in so that they could be cleaned and reused. Then the manufacturers came up with disposable plastic bottles. Cheaper to manufacture and use than the glass without paying back a deposit. Lo and behold, garbage levels went skyrocketing, and people of the time rightfully blamed the soda manufacturers for the garbage increase. They used PSAs to foist the problem on the consumer, blaming them for the creation of the garbage, we accepted it erroneously, and the problem has gotten out of hand ever since.
