MTG telling people that the specific phrase "separation of church and state" doesn't appear in the Constitution and then mentioning it was in a letter (a letter written by one of the framers of the Constitution) means she only cares about what she can use to make her point and will throw the founders under the bus to make it.

  2. Imagine suggesting the language of the Constitution is what matters and not what the people writing it took it to mean. We have letters written by the people who made it telling us they wanted government to stay out of religion and religion to stay out of government. And, depending on what they're arguing, the religious right will praise the words alone ignoring intent or praise the people writing them but ignore what they wanted or understood.
