We live in a country that ostensibly is meant to be one where every candidate must earn his or her votes, where the people haven't made up their minds because of a little D or R next to their names, where the best candidate usually earns the seat. What we have is a polarized nation where echo chambers make people deaf to ideas they don't already have, where misinformation is the language of the politician, where the man or woman who spends the most for advertising gets the seat. Our founding fathers wouldn't recognize our nation at all.
