@oldtimer7635 I don't know which denomination you are part of, but let's use Southern Baptist as an example. if you are a Southern Baptist and the state you're in adopts Catholicism as its official religion. Well, you'd have a problem with that. You wouldn't want your children being indoctrinated in Catholicism or be forced by the state to attend Catholic mass twice a week. Separating the power of the state and the power of the church protects your right to believe as you will.

Religion doesn't belong in the halls of government or anything the government runs, like public schools or emergency services. It belongs in the church and in the home. Live your life according to your religion if you must, but you start demanding me and my family must also live our lives according to your religion, we're going to have a problem.

@RevShifty Thing is, these Christian nationalists don't see that as a bad thing. They're saving souls, don't you know? They also don't realize there is no such thing as generic Christianity. There are some ten thousand denominations and most of them disagree with all the rest. Yet another excellent reason to have separation of church and state. Try asking a Baptist if they'd be comfortable with the Catholic church in charge of everything.
