BLM needs leadership, because it currently lacks accountability. Anyone associated with the organization can say anything which can and will be carried by the media, especially media opposed to BLM, and paint the entire organization with the same brush. Leadership would be able to distance the group from the more outlandish ideas being pushed and keep the more radical elements in check. Leadership would also be able to crystalize some of the more common ideals into more functional policy proposals, proposals that would be more difficult to paint as radical or the workings of anti-American\ bad-faith actors.
