He gave half of Europe to Stalin - called it a victory for freedom, then made a new career based on warning us about the 'Iron Curtain'

The war was a disaster for Britain - we entered it as the world's superpower and exited it as a bankrupt satellite of the US As for Europe - we lost half of it to Stalin, because we allied with him and turned the USSR into a superpower

@CB-fz3li Did you miss the bit where he decided to ally with the USSR and later held a conference where he agreed to give Stalin half of Europe? This isn't hard to read about
1
@CB-fz3li The conference was at Yalta - where the map of Europe was officially carved up by the so called 'allies' But of course the decision to give Stalin a huge part of Europe was made much earlier in principal How can you justify allying with the USSR when it had murdered tens of millions of people, created a gulag police state, and invaded dozens of countries (including Poland)?
1
@CB-fz3li So losing half of Europe to Stalin was a necessary evil? A man who had killed tens of millions of people, enslaved tens of millions more, and invaded dozens of countries before the war had even started? And the reason Germany was so much more evil was because they invaded Poland? Even though the USSR also invaded Poland at the same time? Of course Stalin had already occupied much of Europe, he was our ally and we did everything we could to help him and had agreed in principle that he would massively expand the USSR via the war
1
@CB-fz3li we were only at war with Germany because we decided to declare war on Germany Supposedly over Poland, but Stalin invaded it at the same time Germany had no desire of any kind to fight the British empire
1
@CB-fz3li Well that worked out well didn't it - we started a world war over bloody Poland Which ended up with us losing half of Europe (including Poland) to Communism And also ended up with Britain becoming a third rate satellite nation of the USA Then we pretended it was a victory for us and freedom in general, lol
1
Man was a walking disaster - from the Dardanelles to Drezden to losing the British Empire and half of Europe to Communism By all accounts he was a 'bad drunk' and generally unsavory character as well His remarkable rise from the political wilderness to PM, and who paid for it to happen, is something everyone here should read up on
1
Is that why he allied with mass murderer Stalin and agreed to him taking over half of Europe?
1
The USSR invaded Poland at the same time
1
@chrishutton1458 Yeah, the USSR had also pefomed the Holodomor and invaded dozens of other nations - killing tens of millions o f people, and enslaving tens of millions more in a horrific gulag state Yet we didn't mention any of that at the time and instead allied with Stalin, gave him half of Europe and called Uncle Joe As Napoleon said: History is lies agreed upon
1
@chrishutton1458 Who was Hitler a danger to? He literally begged Britain to form an alliance and not be enemies He had no interest at all in another tow front war or bad relations with the West
1
@chrishutton1458 Of course he wanted to fight the USSR - the most evil regime in recorded history was literally on his doorstep Why was it OK for the USSR to invade dozens of countries and slaughter tens of millions of people? Why was it OK for the British Empire to colonize a third of the world? The winners write the history books If you seriously think Stalin and the British Empire teamed up to bring democracy to Poland then you're insane
1
Both world wars were disasters for Britain and both were completely avoidable Starts to make more sense when you realize that men like Churchill were simply mouthpieces for the people pulling the strings behind the scenes Just look at how he mysteriously came back to power in the late 30s after being something of a laughing stock - about as dodgy as it gets unless you have very powerful 'friends'

Churchilll's War is an interesting read - available free via PDF if you don't wanna buy it
