  3. we have had to supply platforms for subway stations and in canada the blueprints are in milimeters for stuff that is like 600 feet long . so the draftsmen draw these individual panels down to a single milimeter. but our tolerances can't even achieve that so it's a pain in the ass. for weight i prefer metric because of the easy conversion to volume and the dividibilty of kg to gram etc. seams there are 3 or 4 different ways to express pressure in metric and i find that confusing also thinks like force in newtons?? then i have to divide by 9.81 to get any idea about tonnage . like how many tons is 20,000 kn ??

  4. not only that. the gas pumps changed to liters and trudeau threw in a bunch of new tax but it was masked since the signs were in liters so most people couldn't figure out what they were actually paying.

  5. i am pissed you refer to machinists as shop rats. machinists are far more important to society than lawyers , accountants , writers and any clerk. it this attitude that real work is low grade that i can't stand. at least half the people that go to college don't learn anything of importance particularly in the " humanities" .
