  1. the plastic sheet they vacuum into the first part may be the spacer between the mold halves. when they pour in the cast iron it burns up . this would be like the lost foam method of casting?

  2. how is this even economical? how do they make a profit? seems like an expensive process to make lightweight gravel . gravel is cheap . maybe in japan it's expensive.
