perhaps another problem was with only 1 rail the load capacity was half of what 2 rails would provide. so for freight that was a problem. also when going around curves would the wheel lose capacity due to now rolling at an angle unless the rail was angled

i remember the bic commercials with the bic challenge. one was bruce jenner with a bic pen in the tip of his javelin throwing it like in the olympics. he throws it, it lands point in the dirt , they pull the pen out and start writing with it on paper. shows how it can take a beating and keeps working. there were other commercials as well. that's when it really took off in my memory . in the 70's or late 60's i think.

so there was a lag of up to 1 minute for the furthest clocks but that is still very precise being within 1 minute of the master. i would like more engineering details like what pressure the system ran at and what supplied the compressed air . also the bellows would inflate then deflate . how is the deflation accomplished? where does the air go to deflate the bellows. plus having a compressed are system of so many kilometers without leaks ( or were there) is an accomplishment in itself. did they use british pipe thread or some other system to join the pipes?

so when the train was stopped the gyros would need to keep spinning so could never stop the engine. i guess some kind of arms to the ground that could be set like a parking brake would solve that.
