this thing is a designers goldmine but an engineers nightmare. reminds me of aerospike rocket engines. and idea that is great on paper but an impossible thing to make work.

@ReadTheShrill had similar experience also way back at one track there was one set of bleachers on right side right at the starting line. wow your whole chest would rumble . it was a really thrilling thing. watching on tv just doesn't give you that yah i couldn't imagine it now

well it depends on how you weigh something but a turbopump on a falcon 9 rocket produces 10,000 hp and weighs about 40 lb. now it is powered by a gas generator , basically a small rocket engine, so i'm not sure what that weighs. and there are 9 of them on the rocket and that's just to pump the fuel and liquid oxygen into the rocket engines.

forged carbon fiber doesn't look ant different from compression molding with sheet molding compound. we do that every day in presses and heated molds . up to 2500 tons of molding pressure. 20 cycles / hr

lighter connecting rods and pistons could be an advantage in formula 1 racing or any racing where the engine goes from low to high revs to low . being lighter they would accelerate faster and decelerate faster.
