Obviously war is different to a series of devastating earthquakes, but I relate to the whole "trying to find normalcy as you see the city you've lived in your whole life get destroyed around you" thing. The city of my childhood is gone; I can't bring it back, but it taught me that you can mourn what is lost, whilst hoping for something new, that might not take the place of what was there, and it might not be better than before either, but whilst you have people around you who are keeping on going and planting flowers in road cones and the "danger" tapes in front of the rubble that used to be your school, your church, your library, your life... those people help you find home in the chaos, and can give you hope you'll get through it all somehow. 🇳🇿❤🇺🇦
