@gotzh6291 No it is positive. Demographic shifts in the end do lead to better living standards even if it is through war in the end things get better. History has shown that.

Funny thing is Swahili is used even though most of us come from west and central Africa.

@poperaymond431 don’t know if you understand what “kind of” means
1
@sockmon1 stop with the class reductionism both play a role which is why I said kind of.
1
@sockmon1 the idea that racism is literally just classism. When history proves that isn’t the case.

@Swearengen1980 The things is there was no “African” to Africans back then. In pre colonial Africa if you beat your enemy you took some of them as slaves and combined them with your people where they would eventually become apart of you in a generation or two. The trans Atlantic slave trade had a big impact on that and tapped into the system. War between states and kingdoms increased due to the European demand for slaves. The only reason why Europeans stopped (They didn’t actually stop serfdom was slavery with another name and there are a few million slaves in Europe right now) enslaving “each other” was due to Catholic church outlawing the enslaving of other Christians similar to Islamic law outlawing the enslaving of other Muslims. Africa was extremely diverse and still is it was your people vs all others the only similarity was the skin color.

@josh-samuelikechi-konkwo7190 Uhhhh the Mali Empire was gone before the Atlantic Slave trade really kicked in. They only had problems with some Portuguese traders but they were already well into decline by the 16th century.
1
@nullw8768 You are wrong. The major slave trading kingdoms were on the coasts of Atlantic and much smaller than Mali ever was. The Dahomey, The Fante, and Various Nigerian kingdoms were the major providers.
1
@fjooyou Well they replaced it with apprenticeships, coerced labor, and paying taxes to work nothing better than slavery.
1
@josh-samuelikechi-konkwo7190 You dont get what I mean. Empires decline and Mali just declined thats it. I agree with you on your other point.
1
@josh-samuelikechi-konkwo7190 Mali was not destroyed by colonialism it was mainly destroyed by the Songhai and the trans saharan trade becoming less important. It naturally dissolved.
1
@fjooyou They didn’t really they, they shut down their own official African slave trade.
