@Terence.McKenna Slaves get liberated, no education, unrecognized with diplomacy and trade, and given a shit ton of debt from France that they only payed off in the mid 20th century im pretty sure they acquired the debt at the beginning of the 19th century. Resource extraction economy that only sells sugar.

Liberia has come a long way since their civli wars which is surprising given it was not that long ago. Same thing with Rwanda but even more so.

@Tiến Đạt Lục This is what happens when you give billions of dollars worth of debt to a newly independent slavery colony.

@Terence.McKenna Looks like France and the US (Since they would be the largest trading partner) should have saw them as human faster else it would not have happened. Things would be slightly better if they stayed a french colony. Haiti would basically turn into a de facto apartheid state with white french at the top. Just a poorer South Africa with a shit ton more wealth inequality.

The slavers who put up less of a fight then the people they enslaved lmaooo.

Then they just switched to colonial coerced labor.

@stafer3 How do we even know if that is accurate. Also China was literally going through massive famines at the time right?

@retf8977 lower Nubia was mot historically Egyptian they just had a lot of contact with them. They controlled lower Nubia for 600 years I believe.

@JoeSmith-sl9bq Slavery still continued in their colonies and they forced people to work in mines and on cash crop farms to pay taxes just to be free from going to prison and being forced to work anyway. Congo Free Sate is the most extreme. I have no idea what you mean by Britain ending the slave trade slaves were still be exported for quite some time and unfortunately it still is.

Hey man you forget about the boat load of debt that Haiti only payed off in the mid 20th century. Nobody bothered to recognize them for a while when they gained their independence. Haiti has been shafted quite a bit.
