@laki5717 Ukraine is massive with loads of farmland and resources. It literally makes sense that it would be richer than Botswana. It also had a shit ton of infrastructure from independence and plenty of human capital they are in no way comparable. That Also wasn’t always the case. Kenya actually used to be richer than Ukraine for a bit too in terms of gdp per capita.

Most African countries kept their pre independence institutions completely intact which is one of the problems they have in the first place. Those institutions weren’t conducive to running their countries.
