@PIRATE99A The only reason the Japanese surrendered was because the Emperor broke a stalemate after both bombs. The only reason there wasn’t a full blown military revolt by radicals after this surrender is due to the fact that the emperor would be kept in place.

@PIRATE99A Half of the cabinet was still willing to fight the war they didn’t care about civilian casualties from nuclear bombs. The conventional bombing of cities had already killed more people. If the US had conventionally bombed Hiroshima, the soviets invade and then they conventionally bomb Nagasaki the war would have likely ended the same way.

@PIRATE99A Not due to the bombings. Most likely due to the Soviet invasion. The Japanese were VERY desperate to get the Soviets on their side in negotiations with the US. The emperor didn’t give a fuck about his citizens.
