@abshirali2284 You think the west isn’t involved in Africa or something? 80% of all African debt is with the west. The countries funding rebel groups for the most part is the west. Corporations extracting resources for nothing is from the west.

@kaglekoa For resources. But this is literally how trade works. Also do you know how many times China has forgiven debts? They need markets to sell their products to and they cant be poor or else Africans cant buy them. This is literally a hundred times better than what the west has done. Also countries can literally deny the Chinese they dont have to work with also not under threat of regime change like the west did a few decades ago and even now i.e, France.

@user-gd4ty2nq3u Western corporations and governments did fund these projects the thing is they were very expensive. Which the newly independent governments couldn’t afford. Then western finance institutions would force themselves on a country and interfere with their governments and resources.

@jthomas196 Well the Japanese were fucked anyway. It was just that the Us wanted to supposedly move to more free economic trade with the rest of the world and which is why it pushed for the UK and France to decolonize as well. Not to say neocolonialism didn’t continue though.

@zeinebouali3163 That was investment in extracting no real investment was put into the people. All real African progress in terms of education, life expectancy, and health care have occurred post independence in-spite of colonization. The Europeans left Africa in the modern world with no industrial capacity thats literally a death wish. But now some are on a solid path.

@mrtek8095 Not really. The Japanese would have eventually surrendered. You realize that 90% of their capital Tokyo was gone and 300,000 were killed? Thats just from conventional bombs. Most Japanese cities were already destroyed and the Soviets were breathing down their neck.
