Uhhh one correction you said the Egyptians are Arabs but Arabs themselves are a different ethnicities from most Egyptians.
2
Olivier Wells Prisoners of war was the main source of slaves. The criminals being slaves were more common before the Atlantic slave trade. They needed their own people more to fight against the other states.
2
Olivier Wells Slavery has been abolished plenty of times throughout history. Haiti abolished it before any major Western European power. Ummm they abolished it anywhere worldwide. Slavery still continued by another name in much of the new world and once colonial expansion begun the natives were being payed with freedom.
2
@scutumfidelis1436 No they didn’t. Poles and other Europeans weren’t killed. France would inavde again even though they failed but would then debt them into oblivion anyway. I don’t think you understand how brutal the sugar plantations were bro. Which is why the “countrymen” thing is weird lmaooo.
2
@PumpkinHoard Uhhhh the Caribbean and all of South America still exists. Its quite literally only the USA you are talking about.
2
@LuisAldamiz The Songhai were also in disarray due to civil unrest I believe. They honestly could have wiped out the Morocco at the main battle if their commander hadn’t sent cattle at them.
2
@Imperator04 They were more powerful than all of the Northern European peoples. Only rome was stronger.
2
@SerG-ez2po Ummm well no. Omfg stop with the fucking own people bullshit. There wasn’t one country in Africa fighting each other to get slaves it was different kingdoms with different cultures going at it. Only some nations like Dahomey truly profited from the trade and even then the wealth was concentrated in the top. Kingdoms like the Kongo got destroyed due to the trade. Some states literally wanted nothing to do with the trade. Please educate yourself.
2
Still dont know how selling your enemies who speak a different language and practice a different culture is selling your own people. Is China selling Indians as slaves selling their own people since they are both Asian?
2
@orboakin8074 Slavery still takes places in Africa especially in Nigeria and all over the world lmaooo. The British stopped the Atlantic trade but even then it still continued illegally and “slavery” in their Caribbean colonies. They still used coerced and free labor of Indians and later in their African colonies. Multiple countries abolished slavery before any “western nation” the first nations state in modern terms to do so was Haiti. Empires and Kingdoms before then since ancient times also had abolished slavery.
2
@mohamedred5746 wasn’t Ismail Bin Sharif half black himself?
2
@mohamedred5746 No seriously wasnt Al Rashad half black as well? Weren’t they Alouids?
2
Berthold Von Zahringen Yeah but they were a racist regime that left the black population in poverty and with no power that regime was asking to be deposed.
1
@historyofitaly4364 Actually probably not. Im pretty sure Ethiopia has existed far longer than Italy.
1
@malc3j345 they weren’t black most were brown some where white and some whee black.
1
@cxarhomell5867 Gas.
1
@Kafkaesque Democratic republic of the congo?
1
@slayerofcrusadersandsmallh6404 it was mainly the ruling class that was muslim until in the Sahel area until the forced conversions of the Songhai after the fall of Mali empire.
1
@makeytgreatagain6256 No Songhai was the one forcefully converted but by Africans themselves.
1
@makeytgreatagain6256 Ghana was more animist with a muslim ruling class. Mali had a muslim ruling class with the mixing of muslim and animist religions. Songhai became more orthodox and many people left the animist parts behind. Ghana is the first sehalian empire we know of.
1
@FernandoRaulAstrology You literally make so fucking sense.
1
@Imperator04 wtf does that even mean?
1
@Imperator04 Bantu is not a race.
1
@tobilobaokorodudu9594 sorry bro but there is definitely different levels of slavery.
1
@tobilobaokorodudu9594 I honestly dont care. I rather be a house servant in Egypt or some shit and maybe get my freedom than a field worker on a Caribbean sugar cane plantation where it was cheaper to work me to death than keep me alive.
1
@Abraxium what?
1
Slavery was common everywhere.
1
@aztaline5593 “Muslim” Slave trade lmaooo. Eunuchs were mainly used as advisors and or personal aids to nobility the logic was that castrating them made them smarter and more loyal. Also these slaves and their children could rise to important positions. The trades aren’t really comparable. It was actually the fact that the trade was so widespread that it didn’t effect any specific region to bad. The trans Atlantic slave trade was concentrated in west and central Africa.
1
@ikengaspirit3063 The Zanj revolt was actually more of a general low class revolt consisting of slaves, freed slaves, and the poor.
1
@PackHunter117 Because the Europeans were Christian. Most of the African slaves were Pagan.
1
ibang yermom They didn’t sell their countrymen lmaooo. They sold prisoners of war. Think of Germany using various European populations as slaves in their war machine. Damn why do so many people have such a poor understanding of the Atlantic Slave Trade?
1
@ashokafulcrum4795 Source on the slaves coming from east Africa were always castrated? Their descendants still exist today lmaooo.
1
@ashokafulcrum4795 The difference was Europeans were mostly Christian so they were treated a bit better than pagan Africans. Also you are wrong on the social mobility thing. African slaves definitely had more social mobility in the Islamic world. Also notice how your European examples is Russia who was barely even involved in the Atlantic Slave trade and the Dutch who only really had some slave traders. How about you find some examples in the New World? Can you find a former slave becoming the leader of a state? (Minus Haiti)? Can you find African generals? Or powerful advisors?
1
@maxwarfar2651 What?
1
@aztaline5593 When did I say no region was effected quote me on that? I just said that since their sources of slaves were spread out across the continent less damage was done. Central Africa wasn’t the only region but East and West Africa. The volume of the trade was quite low since it lasted more than a thousand years and all. Well the majority of peasant at the time lived in horrible conditions. If you are a soldier or a house servant it would be against your owners best interest to keep you in “horrible” conditions. Which is why it was better to work in the house than the field in the new world. How was I justifying castration? It’s overblown that is. Castration was done to native citizens and European slaves as well. They just had a fucked up thought process back then.
1
@PackHunter117 Bro how are you speaking so confidently on this subject when you dont know this. Generally people who practiced one of the three abrahamic religions were treated better than others. If it was just about race then they would have been enslaving the citizens of Kanem Bornu are the Swahili City States. Instead these states would capture pagan Africans to sell to them.
1
Olivier Wells Well the discrimination against whites is so fucking easy on them lmaooo. Whites control the vast majority of business in the US, are the vast majority of government, and get the most special treatment in higher education lmaooo. Affirmative Action doesn’t even benefit black people that much. I think it was Yale that found whites have the most positive bias for them while Asians have the least when it comes to acceptance. Surprisingly it isn’t Black or Hispanics. Who the fuck here is blaming you?@ them

@aztaline5593 “It was actually the fact that the trade was so widespread that it didn’t effect any specific region to bad. The trans Atlantic slave trade was concentrated in west and central Africa.” The history speaks for itself the trans Atlantic slave trade caused the depopulation of areas in west and central Africa. It also led to the downfalls of the Mali state (former empire) and played a part of the Songhai empire. It also led to the destruction of Kongo despite being Christian and many African states in Central Africa. The massive demand for slaves that greatly outpaced the trade across the Sahara and influx of guns led to extremely deadly conflicts between enemy states for prisoners of war to sell. No state or empire fell apart or descended into chaos due to the demand of slaves from the Trans Saharan slave trade. Im not saying it was good I am just objectively comparing them one was definitely worse than the other. Is it not okay to say the Holocaust was worse than the Armenian genocide since it killed way more people and caused more damage? Why did you bring up the Trans Saharan Trade in the first place?
1
@PumpkinHoard ok?
1
@LuisAldamiz Uhh the Tuareg other Saharan peoples which are mixed between west Africans and berbers have existed since time immemorial. It was in fact the Tuareg who took back Timbuktu from the Moroccans.
1
@teddyissak2720 I meant it so they guy could understand.
1
@fufu3539 Its better to go regional but even them you have a country like Ghana in the same region as Niger. When talking about Africa its best to stay away from generalizations but even I make them myself.
1
@Nickademas1 Damn you are dumb. Why did the first civilizations develop in places without harsh winters?
1
You should do Ancient Nubia next.
1
@gofigureme5749 We still know about African history but why would the western world care in general. We also do have the oral history. Directors, writers, and film studios make movies for money. They have a mainly white audience so they make a movie about European history and then add a few colored people to pander to them.
1
@orboakin8074 It didn’t end and they basically enslaved you during colonization just called it something different.
1
@mohamedred5746 They claimed a good amount modern day Mauritania. They never really controlled anything past that well and it never lasted long.
1
@abdiabdi3225 Afro Asiatic is the language family Semitic is apart of. Its dumb to call Ethiopian languages semitic.
1
@hendriktonisson2915 We dont know of some Roman emperors lmaooo. There also are the skeletons of what might be black people in England but using skeletons to determine race isn’t accurate. Which is why we get problems like the Kennewick man.
