  2. In my experience, ‘past trauma’ is a common go to for women that’s replaced the ‘headache’ as an excuse in transient relationships. Women who are into you but have genuinely had real trauma in their past will rarely mention it and even if they do, only after a year or two.

  3. I’m not convinced he was ever anything to her other than as a stop-gap between others. Him taking it so seriously was probably counterproductive.
