There’s 7 IU in 100g of mushrooms, to get 4,000 IU you’d have to eat 47 kgs of mushrooms per day… At £3/kg that’s over £140/day. …good luck with that.

Be careful with Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A in large doses is toxic.

Everyone does is sunlight, gingers have a paler skin so they probably produce more, it’s possible this mutation conveyed this benefit for those living at higher latitudes.
2
@alexanderohanlon8825 total nonsense, it’s a cheap generic, try again.
2
@anynamez7048 dangerous nonsense, eating the liver of a predator is well documented as potentially fatal, but keep going, your delusional ignorance is hilarious. Polar bear, bearded seal, fish, walrus, and moose, are particularly toxic. It has been estimated that consumption of 500 grams of polar bear liver would result in a toxic dose for a human.

There’s no money in it, try harder.

@christopherrobinson7541 No, they just produce it more efficiently. You’re welcome to provide a reference for them producing it without sunlight.

Worthless comment. Blocked.

They key question is how big is that dose. I suspect it’s far too low because your doctor is using the obsolete NRV/RDA value.
1
Campbell should have mentioned that even today the NRV/RDA for vitamin D is still massively below the correct amount. A statistical error was found in the original calculation back in 2014. For some unknown reason this has been largely ignored.

Foods do not contain enough, you need either sunshine or supplements. At higher latitudes in winter there isn’t enough sunlight.
1
Good point, however the price you pay is more skin cancer.

@calluna5030 I agree, but levels are higher in Australia

Good point
