Denmark suspected this back in March and recommended aspiration to check for Correct IM (vs IV). This used to be standard procedure for IMs but has fallen out of use and appears to be no longer even part of the training. When I went for my first jab I asked about aspiration and was given the option of either having the jab without aspiration, or not having the jab at all. Thanks NHS!

My understanding is that it’s no longer part of the training.

I believe Denmark did, but I’ve heard nothing since.
2
You can ask... I was refused Not all even know what it means anymore
2
It’s more likely you simply got someone who was trained differently originally. The impression I have (in the U.K.) is if the person is over 50ish then they generally aspirate.
2
The training has changed
2
I’m completely sick of the gross incompetence, wilful ignorance and blatant corruption of our political overlords that is now plainly obvious to anybody who bothers to do the most basic research into what’s going on.
2
Some staff won’t even know what you’re requesting, it’s no longer in the training.

Standard procedure SHOULD be to give a fresh vaccine... The obvious question is if they use the same injection a second time, when blood has coloured the vaccine, how will they know if they hit a vein on their second attempt? ...People are lazy, who knew?

Privacy/modesty issues.

He’s a PhD not an MD

@tripplespringsfarm9737 wooooooosh
1
I guess you’ll have to judge for yourself based on the evidence presented.
1
They won’t care
1
Try that again in English
1
It’s not standard practice in the U.K.
1
I was refused as well.

He isn’t a physician and never has been, he’s a PhD.

@weirdwildweed6557 Any chance of having your comment in English?
1
Good luck, my request was refused.
1
Anecdotally, most report aspiration isn’t done. It’s also specifically in the published instructions not to do it.
1
Because: 1) It doesn’t happen very often 2) If blood is aspirated then the vaccine is wasted, they have to prepare a new injection 3) They don’t care 4) It simplifies training
1
That doesn’t invalidate his claim about the importance of aspirating.
1
Why is the theory poor?
1
They are no longer trained to do it.
1
How do you know? How long ago?
1
Then your immune system is compromised
1
You’re welcome to try, most people who have, report that their request was refused (including me). Some staff don’t even know what aspiration is because it’s no longer part of the training.
1
I got the same response
1
Do you know when it changed?
1
It could be many factors: Higher risk generally Lower blood volume Easier to hit a vein Vaccinated by younger staff Vaccinated by recently trained staff Younger people might have a faster pulse Younger people might feel more stressed
1
It will probably be refused
1
They are supposed to.
1
When I asked, I was told I could either have it without aspiration or not have it at all (U.K.).
1
It’s no longer part of standard training
1
When I asked I was refused.
1
Yes
1
How is it deceptive?
1
@brainsurge9099 Except Campbell’s concerns are supported by evidence, yours are not.
1
@wellinever1558 please provide your evidence that vaccination staff have: 1) Been taught what aspiration is. 2) Will provide it on request. Bear in mind that in many countries, the instructions for covid vax specifically state that aspiration is NOT to be performed. Also, how do you know that your ‘knowledge’ in your country (wherever that is), remotely applies in the country of the op? (wherever that is).
