Aspiration is a training issue with a time element. (In the U.K.) If you get a nurse or doctor over 50, they’re likely to aspirate if you ask. 40-50 They might refuse because... reasons. 30-40 Who knows < 30 (or someone recently recruited for giving shots) - probably won’t know what it is. It’s a sad world when your pet is likely to get safer IM injections from the Vet, than humans will.

The simple question about aspiration is... what is lost by doing it? If (as many trolls are claiming) accidental IVs never occur with deltoid injections - then nothing is lost by aspirating.

For all the comments saying you can ask them to aspirate... ...yes, you can ask, however: 1) it’s no longer part of the training so many won’t know what it is, or how to do it. 2) Many have been specifically told NOT to do it anymore. I’m in the U.K.- when I politely requested aspiration I was ridiculed and told I could have the jab without or go away. Needless to say I won’t be repeating that experience, the NHS and Government can get f....d. Update: I see the usual trolls are here saying just ask your doctor... ‘ 1) Have you tried seeing a doctor recently? 2) He’s just as likely to refuse - what part of “it’s no longer part of the training” do you not understand?
