@jensissons5709 Around 1% of the general population die in any year. In the U.K. that’s around 600,000 people die per year in a total population of around 70 million. The expected yearly deaths is calculated by adding the total deaths in the previous 5 years and dividing by 5. The actual deaths were around 10% higher, being 660,000 deaths instead of the expected 600,000.
